Richard Hines served as an elected official in the South Carolina
House of Representatives. He held various executive positions in the
Reagan Administration in executive branch agencies such as the U.S.
Department of Transportation and Interstate Commerce Commission. In
the U.S. General Services Administration, he was the principal interface
for the agency in charge of business and industry relations, as well
as a catalyst for reform for acquisition policies within the government.
After leaving the public sector, he became Vice-President of Electronic
Data Systems, a billion dollar corporation with over 60,000 employees,
where he was responsible for U.S. Government sales. He combined his
talent and experience in the private and public sectors to form RTH
Consulting in 1997.
His history of political activism was, most recently, extended
to aid the campaign of President Bush in the South Carolina Primary
of the 2000 Presidential election. He continues
to be involved in local, regional, and federal politics and has
an active voice in the current Bush Administration. In April of
this year, he participated in the Government Roundtable in Athens,
Greece, where he spoke alongside former President Bush, Mikhail
Gorbechev, and other European leaders, as well as prominent
businessmen.
Mr. Hines was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and received a
B.A. in History at the University of South Carolina.
He is married to the former Patricia Mayes of Mayesville, South
Carolina, and they have two children, James Williams and Kathleen.
